Follow Up To The Iron Bowl

I thought I would post a few pictures of the boys. We took them to a no smoking allowed bar/restaurant, yes we had babies...in a bar :-), to watch the Alabama/Auburn game. They lasted till half time then we packed it up and headed home.

I think I need to teach my husband some photography tricks...most pictures of me with the boys have them looking away from the camera or making funny faces. Where the pictures that I have taken (pats self on the back) usually have them laughing and smiling. But I will say this...I have had way more practice and I am thankful that he takes pictures.

The Iron Bowl

We did it again! Alabama beat Auburn in the Iron Bowl!! This is a big deal to Bama fans because Auburn is our rival team. It's also a big deal because my neighbor is an Auburn fan and we like to rub it in each others faces when our team wins.

My neighbor started the tradition (here I go again with traditions) 5 years ago when Auburn beat Alabama and I woke up to find a stuffed Tiger on my car. You can read about the last years "prank" here.

This year I taunted my neighbor with yard signs I bought at Home Depot (I vow to be more creative next year when we win!). I wrote Roll Tide Roll on one side and the score on the other and stuck them in her yard Sunday night. Ideally, I would have loved to fill her whole yard with signs but at $4 a sign I whittled it down to 3...but I got my point across!!

Now, we wait anxiously for Saturday's game against Florida (she types while biting her nails)!

Friendly Rivalry

After 6 long years Bama finally beat Auburn!! This Saturday, number 1 ranked Bama beat Auburn 36-0!! For those who don't know, Auburn is Alabama's biggest rivalry. Well, a neighbor of mine happens to be an Auburn fan which has made walking out my front door every year very entertaining.

It all started 3 years ago. The morning after Auburn beat Bama I walked outside and found a stuffed tiger on my car (Auburn's Mascot). I had no idea who did for a few weeks and then my sweet, quiet, petite neighbor Amy, fessed up. I was in shock and very impressed. The following year I walked out to a driveway covered in chalk art, Auburn's symbol, for all to see. And last year, an Auburn shirt hanging from a tree in my front yard.

Well, this year was my year! Undefeated Alabama beat the crap out of Auburn! After the game, around midnight, I dressed the tiger in the Auburn shirt and headed down to my neighbors. I love friendly rivalry!

P.S. I truly felt bad for the tiger :-(

Roll Tide Baby!!!

Ahhhhh! The first Alabama football game of the season was on Saturday....I can't begin to describe how happy that made me. I love nothing more than Alabama football and hearing a football game on t.v....it's all so comforting. My college days were some of the greatest times of my life. I had awesome friendships at school...some of which are still going strong (thanks to my friends for keeping the communication up...I suck!) I tear up every time I see the first football game of the season.I flashback to every wonderful, crazy, stupid, delicious, first time moment from those days. My home is truly in Alabama.

So, I put on my Bama earrings, ring, bracelet, flip flops and hat and headed to a pub with my hubby, family and friends. Amazingly, my best friend Nikki married a guy that went to Bama the same time I did....what are the chances...especially in Texas!!! She has become a true Bama fan which makes me all the happier. I also dragged out my BFFFFFFFFF, Jason. He is not an Alabama fan but came along for the ride and yelled Roll Tide at every proper moment to make me happy....Love You Jason! (Side note: Jason is a catch, any single girls out there in Houston would be lucky to date him!)

I was so happy on Saturday. I had my mom and dad decked out in Bama attire cheering along with us, some of my closest friends with me, chips and queso and the best freakin cheeseburger I have EVER had! And by the way....WE KICKED THE SHIT OUT OF CLEMSON!!!! Bama was ranked #24 and beat #9 Clemson...we are now #13. ROLL TIDE!!
